Art Show at the Riverside Hotel Deadline Approaching!

The entry deadline for the Art Show at the Riverside Hotel is in one week, January 10, 2020.

The owners of The Riverside Hotel and Boise artist Julie Clemons, a non-IWS member, will jury 35 to 40 IWS water-media paintings to hang in the Riverside Hotel hallways April 1-June 30, 2020. This show will highlight IWS artwork during WFWS-45 when and where the convention and guests will be staying. There are NO restrictions on size (the larger the better), surface, date of completion, mat colors or NFS. Submit your favorite water-media works no matter how old…but all must be ready to hang with wire (no sawtooth hangers). Do NOT submit the same painting(s) in both this show and the 2020 WFWS show, as WFWS results will not yet be known.

WFWS 45 One Week Notice Reminder for Entry!

Happy New Year!

The year 2020 has arrived and the WFWS Exhibition in Boise will be happening before you know it.

Remember, the deadline for entering your images to be considered by the Juror is next Friday, January 10th. I must receive your digital entry images via email no later than midnight, January 10th.   You must send me your entry form and a check made out to IWS for your entry fee through the regular mail by next Friday as well.

Please check your entry photos to be sure they comply with the image requirements in the prospectus, available by clicking here. Remember also that your IWS membership must be current.  

I’m looking forward to seeing all of your entries by next week, so keep on painting!

Welcome All Artists to the 10th Annual Art & Soul of the Magic Valley Art Contest

The Magic Valley Arts Council is delighted to open registration in the 10th Annual Art & Soul of the Magic Valley.

This unique art contest/arts awareness initiative welcomes all artists to compete for $43,000 in prize money. Grand Prize will receive $12,000, 2nd Place will win $6,000, 3rd Place get $3,000 and 4th Place will take home $1,500, while 17 Best in Show winners will receive $1,000 each!

Art & Soul of the Magic Valley, the Northwest’s largest cash-prize awarding public-vote art contest, features over 300 artists from across the globe. Art & Soul will take place in the businesses and public spaces from April 10-25, 2020 in Twin Falls, Idaho.

This year’s contest, where EVERYONE has an opportunity to be involved, promises to be more exciting than ever! New categories have been added!

Please consider supporting this effort with your entry. Art & Soul brings tremendous exposure to hundreds of artists, continues the mission of supporting the importance of art in our communities and provides a tourism component to our region.

Stephen Quiller 4 Day Water-media Workshop Lottery

Stephen Quiller will be the IWS Workshop Instructor and WFWS-45 Juror for 2020. He will teach a 4-day Water-media Workshop May 6-9, 2020 at the Nazareth Center in Boise. Cost is $500 and includes daily lunch.

Because we expect an overly high demand for the Stephen Quiller workshop, we have decided to have an IWS members-only lottery drawing for the 24 seats. If you would like to be in this workshop lottery drawing, you must submit your name between December 3 – January 3, 2020 by email or by snail mail (must be received by 1/3/20) to Pam Grant: pamgrant@fmtc.com or by mail: P.O. Western Fed Entry Deadline

Don’t forget, your entry images for the 2020 WFWS exhibit are due to me, Dennis Hayzlett, your delegate (dchayzlett@gmail.com), by Friday, January 10, 2020. You may enter images of up to 3 paintings. The complete entry requirements and specifications for preparing your images are contained in the Prospectus which you can view by clicking here. With the holidays coming, it is easy to get preoccupied with other things and forget to complete your entries. So keep painting and have your works finished by January 10th. I’m really looking forward to seeing all f your entries!
